| News Saint Bridget’s AIDS Support Network Receives $30,000 N.J. AIDS Partnership Grant NEWARK, N.J. – Saint Bridget’s AIDS Support
Network, a program of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark,
has received a $30,000 grant from the New Jersey AIDS Partnership to support
HIV/AIDS prevention and intervention efforts, to improve clients’
access to case management and health care, and to enhance collaboration
between Catholic Charities and its partners, Broadway House and Cathedral
Healthcare System. Saint Bridget’s Residence is a 30-bed transitional living program providing supervised and secure residential services for homeless men, 18 years old or older, who have been diagnosed with AIDS. Program staff work to maximize each client’s ability to function in the community autonomously and with dignity by delivering supportive services and helping clients identify goals, seek solutions, strengthen coping abilities, and develop new skills. Begun in 1988, the New Jersey AIDS Partnership is the collaborative effort of corporate and private funders, public health officials, service providers, people living with HIV/AIDS, and community leaders. The Partnership seeks to identify unmet needs in the HIV/AIDS community, funds programs to address those needs, and promotes accurate public information. Catholic Charities – formerly Catholic Community Services – is one of the state’s oldest and largest community-service agencies. Serving Essex, Hudson, Union, and Bergen counties, the agency shelters the homeless; counsels families in crisis; provides day care and socialization activities for older adults; builds families through adoption; teaches job skills; educates students with special needs; helps people living with HIV/AIDS; and assists immigrants, refugees, and victims of human trafficking. Catholic Charities is affiliated with Catholic Health and Human Services Corporation and supports the mission of the Archdiocese of Newark.
